The Chrysler Grand Caravan for Uber Drivers

The Chrysler Grand Caravan is the van Toronto UberXL drivers end up in because it clears every requirement without effort and costs less to get into than any other new seven-seater on the lot. Seven seats with seven seatbelts, four doors with the rear pair sliding, a 287-horsepower V6, and a 2026 model year that the City of Toronto's bylaw keeps eligible until March 31, 2033. Golden Mile Chrysler has it new, and late-model used ones as they land.

A rideshare van opens its rear doors a few hundred times a week, and where it opens them is at a curb with a bike lane on one side and a parked car on the other. A sliding door goes straight up the side of the van. It does not swing into the lane, it does not tap the car beside you, and a passenger with a rolling bag walks through an opening no hinged door offers. Riders notice; the ones with luggage notice most.

Stow 'n Go is the Chrysler system that folds the second and third rows flat into wells in the floor rather than removing them. On an airport run the third row disappears in seconds and four large bags go in behind four passengers with nothing on a lap. Between airport runs the seats come back up and it is a seven-seater again. The wells also work as covered storage under the second row with the seats in use, which is where the winter kit and the cleaning supplies live.

Same van, different badge. The Grand Caravan wore a Dodge badge in Canada through the 2020 model year and has been a Chrysler since 2021, which is why most drivers still search for the Dodge and why the van on the lot says Chrysler. If you are comparing a used Dodge Grand Caravan against a new Chrysler, note that the current van is the newer Pacifica-based body, not the old Dodge platform: it is a different, larger vehicle with the same name.

And note the model year. A 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan is in its seventh model year in 2026 and must be off the Toronto platform by March 31, 2027. That is a season and a half of Toronto pickups, whatever the price. The model-year table on the requirements page does that arithmetic for every year from 2020.

Both are on the lot in most months. The new 2026 SXT buys six and a half Toronto seasons from September 2026 and comes with the Car Doctor Offer: Lifetime Oil Change* at Golden Mile Chrysler every six months or 8,000 km, two years of free tire storage for the winter set the City requires, and the $250 gas card, which is a new-vehicle offer. A used 2023 or 2024 Grand Caravan is the same body, the same engine and the same seven seats at a lower price, with three and a half or four and a half Toronto seasons left. The used Grand Caravan page lists each unit with its odometer, all-in price and CARFAX, and the used minivans page puts them beside every other seven-seater on the lot. Divide the price by the seasons before you decide; the answer is not always the used van.
