Vans for Uber Drivers in Toronto

An UberXL vehicle in Toronto needs seats and seatbelts for the driver plus six passengers, four doors, and a model year no more than seven years old. A new Chrysler Grand Caravan or Pacifica meets all three on day one, and under the City of Toronto's bylaw a 2026 model can keep taking Toronto pickups until March 31, 2033. Golden Mile Chrysler stocks both, and Nav quotes the finance number and the lease number on the same van so you can see which one survives rideshare kilometres.

None of them quotes an earnings figure, because that number is Uber's and it moves; what they do quote is every requirement, with the date it was checked.

When a Toronto driver says "Uber van" they almost always mean a seven-seat minivan, and for a reason that has nothing to do with looks. UberXL fares are set higher than UberX for the same trip, and the same van keeps taking UberX and Comfort requests in between, so it never sits waiting for an XL ping. A three-row SUV can do the same job, but only if it actually has seven seatbelts — a Durango or a Grand Cherokee L with second-row captain's chairs seats six and misses the XL count by one.

Sliding doors are the feature you will thank yourself for by the second week. A curbside pickup on Queen Street, a hotel loop, the arrivals level at Pearson: the rear door opens straight up without swinging into the bike lane or the car beside you, and a passenger with a suitcase steps through an opening a hinged door cannot match. Nobody dings a sliding door on a parked car.

Then there is the airport run itself. Stow 'n Go folds the third row flat into the floor in seconds, so four passengers with four large bags fit without stacking luggage on laps, and both rows stowed opens up to 3,978 litres behind the front seats. Seats back up, it is a seven-seater again. That flexibility is why the Grand Caravan and Pacifica dominate the XL queue at the airport and why they are the vans on this page.

The engine is the same 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 in both vans, rated by Chrysler Canada at 287 horsepower with a nine-speed automatic and 12.4 L/100 km city, 8.4 highway, 10.6 combined on the front-wheel-drive Grand Caravan. It is not a hybrid. If fuel cost outranks purchase price for you, the honest answer is a Sienna hybrid, which we do not sell — the comparison page says so plainly.

Golden Mile Chrysler is a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM store, so the new-van inventory is Chrysler's two: the Grand Caravan, sold in Canada as a single well-equipped SXT trim, and the Pacifica in Select, Limited and Pinnacle, with all-wheel drive available on all three. One honest warning before you fall for a used price: a van only works for Toronto pickups while it sits inside the City's model-year window. Check its year against the table on the requirements page. If a used van on our lot is already outside that window, we will tell you — we would rather lose the sale than sell a rideshare driver a van that cannot take a Toronto trip.

Most people arrive here assuming they will lease, because the weekly number is lower. For a full-time rideshare driver that is usually the wrong instinct. A lease carries an annual kilometre allowance and a per-kilometre charge for everything over it, and a driver doing a thousand kilometres a week is past fifty thousand a year — several times a typical allowance — before the first winter is over.

Financing has no kilometre cap, the van is yours at the end, and every payment builds equity in an asset you can sell or trade. The weekly figure is higher, but the total you actually pay over the term is what matters, and it is the number we put in front of you.
